Kim: Kim was born in a large extensive Italian family in Pittsburg, PA. She completed her BFA from Tyler School of Art in 1990. She established her own studio in 1992 in Central PA; where she primarily grew up, married and currently lives with her husband. Kim has sold/shown her work nationally through juried exhibitions, gallery store exhibitions, sales and personally through some of the finest craft shows in the US. Kim's work has won many awards for excellence. Her work has also been published in books, magazines, articles and newspapers throughout her career. Kim completed her MFA from Kent State in 2005; where she taught JMl, ll and Adv Metals with a TA Assistantship for three years. Kim began exploring new techniques and processes. Her favorite methods include fabrication, welding, torch-firing enamels, etc. combined with traditional tinsmith methods used in antique metals. The scale of her work has evolved to include large scale, metal sculpture and installation work. Kim's Redeemed Series utilizes most of those techniques. Her faith based conceptual work; focuses on Biblical Scripture.

Having Fun with Forms

I happen to visit a friends' roomates' rubber factory and came home with a bunch of colored rubber matt cut-offs. I used this on the band saw and hand carved texture. I really loved the aesthetic quality of the rusted steel and rubber.

Exploring New Techniques in Metal

In graduate school I wanted to explore new techniques in metal sculpture, have the opportunity to teach metals and develop and refine my abilities as an artist.

MOMENT IN TIME

Using two main sheets of copper, I cut and formed the main form and welded it together. The edges are melted to thicken edge. The form was kiln and torch-fired in enamel

SAFE INSIDE THE STORM

Welded Inner Structure w/wrapped copper strips, melted edges to thicken, initial transparent color was kiln fired, remaining colors were torch-fired many times.
